How Ignition Interlock Device Works
Ignition Interlock Services - How it Works
Working to Keep You Safe While on the Road
We know that people don't intend to drive after drinking but sometimes judgement can be impaired. We have made it easy to determine when drivers should not get behind the wheel by providing ignition interlock services. With the installation of a simple ignition interlock device, a potential driver can know quickly whether to leave the driving to someone else.
How to Get Started with Interlock Services
Whether your enrollment in interlock services is mandatory or voluntary, you will need to provide us with your personal information when signing up. We will verify your details and get back with a low-cost quote. Once approved, we will take care of all the paperwork and our technicians will install the ignition interlock device in your car. We have a team of agents that will explain the interlock process and monitor its data as needed.
Using the Interlock Device
Once the ignition interlock device is attached to the ignition system, all drivers will be required to provide a breath sample before starting the engine. By giving a short puff, the device will return the alcohol results quickly. If the driver passes the test, the car will start. If the breath test comes back with a negative reading, the engine will not start. Once on the road, the driver will need to periodically provide additional breath tests. These random rolling retests are done at frequencies of 15 minutes up to an hour. The driver receives a notification that a retest is required and is given a time limit in which the test must be provided. By keeping the handset within easy reach, the driver can perform breath tests periodically while driving.
